Gallo Inspiring New IdeasStaying in business for 80 (or more) years is more of an exception than a rule when it comes to companies, regardless of industry. It takes a certain je ne sais quoi to stay afloat for such a long time, and a corporation that continues to grow during that interim can only be truly special. Given that premise, it can be said that GALLO is definitely out-of-the-ordinary. GALLO is an event, exhibit, and environment business that was opened as Gallo Displays in 1929 by the Gallo Family of Cleveland, Ohio. From being a small sign shop and trade show exhibit fabricator the company has evolved to a strategically-driven, result oriented 3-dimensional marketing communications firm. The company’s longevity can probably be attributed to their customer-centric philosophy where GALLO is committed to finding solutions to fill their clients’ needs with efficiency and creativity. Aside from which, the Ohio-based event marketing firm is always ready to face creative challenges. For instance, a well-known Cleveland medical center’s Heart & Vascular Institute once had a display in Dubai that required surgeons in the US to converse with exhibit attendees in Dubai. To overcome this hurdle, GALLO recreated the medical center’s iconic interiors so visitors can experience the what to expect in the new institute that was going to be built in Saudi Arabia. Inside, the display firm also installed a video conferencing system that connected the surgeons to Dubai attendees. GALLO was also responsible for creating the “operating theater of the future” for another medical client, which drew people in with the drama and excitement of a real operating room. With this sort of creativity behind the firm, it can be said that strength of GALLO is in their imaginations and their ability to make these concepts into a reality. GALLO has a team of designers who have diverse backgrounds in industrial, interior, product, furniture and graphic design, as well as architecture. The blending of different expertise allows GALLO to come up with innovative exhibit designs. In addition to the designers, the company’s staff are experienced in putting together exhibits that feature mass merchandising, multi-level structures, product detailing stations, ribbon design elements, and other elements that will help invite attendees to the displays. Although GALLO has been seen in showrooms and conference centers many times before, the company doesn’t limit itself to static exhibition spaces. GALLO has utilized mobile advertising for Hendrickson Trailers where a trailer’s exterior walls were painted with information about the North American Road Show. For the same event and client, GALLO converted the inside of a heavy-duty trailer into a showroom with displays of the client’s products. GALLO has also worked on industry trade shows for prestigious pharmaceutical companies, permanent installations in the Cleveland Hopkins Airport, and the recently-installed Centennial National Urban League Exhibit in Washington, DC. These projects may differ in structure, look, and location, but GALLO is consistent about one thing: their unique purpose-driven process that utilizes their experience, creativity, and skills to motivate their clients’ audiences and effective marketing solutions. Over the 80 years that GALLO has been in operation, the company has learned that apart from providing a unique 3D approach to marketing, their success is also a result of their relationship with their clients, and of course, their strong team camaraderie. In a business that requires a lot of design, construction and logistics, it’s important that the staff can work together well. It seems to be working for GALLO, too, as in all of their locations in Ohio, New York, Georgia, Texas and Colorado, the average tenure is 30 years! That’s a long time, considering how much work goes into the exhibits but it seems to be fulfilling. Valerie Hurst, one of the company’s sales and Gallo Staffmarketing representatives says that some days can really be busy. Exhibits can sometimes require more than 20 full van loads of materials and they sometimes have to rush last-minute graphics and properties. “On days like these“, she recounts, “the office is buzzing with activity and it is such a relief when the final van has left our building – and such a sense of accomplishment when we see the pictures from showsite and see how terrific the exhibit looked after all our hard work!” Through experience GALLO knows that working in events means that deadlines are usually tight. This is why they usually order their large-format and vinyl banners from UPrinting. Ms. Hurst explains saying “As 90% of our orders are on a tight timeframe, when we order with UPrinting, we are kept apprised of each step of our order so there are no worries that we will receive the product in the timely manner that it was requested.” Aside from the helpful customer service, UPrinting’s price, quality, and service has helped GALLO launch their poster program. The program, Ms. Hurst says, started because a client who represented a number of retail stores were using short-term portable exhibits at the trade shows. GALLO’s program offered more permanence by continuing the portable exhibit messaging with high-quality posters that they could display within the stores after the rental exhibit returned to GALLO. With innovations like that, which ensure that their brand-building clients will receive maximum exposure for the investments, and excellent customer service, it will come as no surprise if GALLO continues its tenure in the event marketing industry and grows for another stretch of 80 years, and more.
