Don’t lose your audience in the summer! Here are some helpful tips for your non-profit

  • Remember to stay in touch with your donors.
  • Remember to keep your content relevant to your audience.
  • Remember to keep the need “alive” for your organization.
  • Remember to show your accomplishments and success stories without implying that you no longer need donor money.
  • Remember that the present economy is in a state of uncertainty.

Remember to stay in touch with your donors.

It is important to keep your non-profit organization visible amongst your donors and supporters. Keep your message and your mission current and alive in their minds by communicating with them through postcards, brochures, greeting cards, emails, newsletters, blog,s or website updates if you have that capability. Keep your mission “alive” for them.

Remember to keep your content relevant to your audience.

While it is important to increase revenue for an organization, keep your communication relevant to your core supports. Alter your message or growth plans that enhance all the work you have done so far for your cause. For instance, if your mission was to enact a recycling plan in your community and you have succeeded, you must remind your audience that there is still more work to do such as educating people about what is and is not recyclable.

Remember to keep the need “alive” for your organization.

This also relates to keeping your content relevant to your audience. If your organization now is going to expand its mission and therefore, needs to expand its donor base, remember not to alienate your original donors by letting them think their work has been “done.”

Remember to show your accomplishments and success stories without implying that you no longer need donor money.

Share your success stories! Let the public know their donation to your charitable organization has indeed made an impact in the world. Did you help save a life? Did you help a homeless person find permanent housing? Make the connection with your donors and let them be proud of all they have done to help others.

Remember that the present economy is in a state of uncertainty.

Why is this important? Your donors may be experiencing a decline in their disposable income. This can negatively affect any upcoming Annual Campaigns on your behalf. Plan and budget accordingly in your Campaign plea.
